Seychelles’ Referencing Report Presented at 7th ACQF Continental Forum

Mahe, Seychelles – 6 August 2026

The Seychelles Qualifications Authority (SQA) is pleased to announce that its report on the referencing of the Seychelles National Qualifications Framework to the African Continental Qualifications Framework (ACQF) was presented to the ACQF Network at the 7th ACQF Continental Forum, held in Nairobi, 28–30 July 2026. Following presentation and peer review, the report will now move to Seychelles' Cabinet of Ministers for national approval before formal publication and ACQF Network endorsement.

The referencing process, a rigorous technical exercise in which national frameworks are mapped against the ACQF's ten-level continental standard, demonstrates Seychelles' commitment to aligning its national qualifications framework with the ACQF and establishing a transparent, auditable connection between Seychellois qualifications and the broader African qualifications landscape.

Seychelles’ National Referencing Team (NRT), comprising staff of the SQA and key stakeholders, completed the assessment and presentation under the leadership of Fiona Ernesta (Chief Executive Officer, SQA) and Noella Baker-Albert (Principal Standards Officer, Standards Setting Unit, SQA). The referencing process required coordination across multiple public bodies to ensure data accuracy, institutional coherence, and compliance with ACQF technical standards.

At the forum, the referencing report was presented by three NRT members, namely Ms Ernesta, Mrs. Baker-Albert and Christine Marimba (Principal Quality Assurance Officer – Registration, SQA), where peer reviewers from Cabo Verde and South Africa offered constructive feedback. These exchanges identified areas for strengthening the report before final submission to Seychelles' Cabinet of Ministers. Once approved nationally, the referencing report will be published on the ACQF website.
